Path-zle: Pathology Macroimage Reconstruction

In collaboration with Dr. Vittoria Martin PhD and Prof. Luca Mazzucchelli (EOC, Istituto Cantonale di Patologia, Locarno)

Whole slide scanners are increasingly used in pathology and quickly produce very high resolution images (80+ Gigapixels) of entire microscope slides. Large biopsy tumor samples often don’t fit on a single microscope slide and thus can not be observed in a single image using standard pathology workflows.

IDSIA designed and implemented AI-assisted software for stitching multiple whole-slide pathology images to a single macro-image where the morphology of large tumor samples can be observed as a whole. Istituto Cantonale di Patologia is currently validating this software in their activity.
