MelanoBase project

Funded by the SNSF

This project had the goal of extracting from the scientific literature information related to a particular disease, for example identifying the genes involved in melanoma [Zanoli et al, 2022]. The main results described in this paper are also presented as a screencast published by the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics (accessible here).

We also participated in various editions of the BioCreative shared tasks which evaluate Biomedical Information Extraction technologies, contributing to organizing one of them [Rinaldi, Ellendorff et al, 2016].
